A. Thomas Decker, DMD

I feel privileged and get great satisfaction ever day when I come to the office. We have a wonderful team of doctors with unmatched resources to care for our patients. The obvious difference we make in the lives of our patients is immeasurable. Being a father and a grandfather, I appreciate how important your child is to you and that you only want the best for them. I assure you that in our practice they will receive the best care available.

I am originally from Pittsburgh but have lived in Guilderland since 1973. My wife Georgia and I have three grown children — Jason, Allison, Emily — as well as eight grandchildren. There is nothing I enjoy more then spending time with our family! I enjoy visiting my children who live out of state, and spending time with family and friends who are closer to home.

The Capital District has been very good to me, and I am sincerely grateful. Giving back to our community is very important. I was a member of the Craniofacial Deformity Team at St. Peter’s Hospital for more than 20 years, where we aided in the diagnosis and treatment of less fortunate infants and children with facial and dental deformities.

Michael J. Sbuttoni, DDS

Children are our highest priority, and I feel all children need and deserve a good smile. An uncorrected problem can adversely affect an individual’s speech, general health, and self-esteem. His or her self-confidence almost always increases when the smile and appearance are improved. The value of a beautiful smile cannot be underestimated.

Since 1961, our reputation for excellent care and quality service has continued to grow. As a result, we have become one of the top orthodontic practices in the nation. I am grateful for the support of our patients and the professional community for helping us reach this level.

Education and Continuing Education

  • Bachelor of Science – State University of New York
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine
  • Orthodontic specialty certificate – Eastman Dental Center graduate orthodontic program

I work tirelessly to make certain the quality of care in our office is the finest available. We are on the cutting edge of the latest philosophical and technological improvements in orthodontics, which requires a constant dedication to continuing my education.

I have been a resident of the Capital Region all my life, born and raised in Colonie. My wife Karen and I have made our home in Slingerlands, where we raised our children Michael and Ashley.  They are both married now and have recently given us two grandchildren  -Michael & Madison- which bring tremendous joy to my life. This is a great community, and I feel so proud to have made a difference in the lives of thousands of children and adults over the years.

Giving back to our community is very important to me as well. I am a member of the Craniofacial Deformity Team at Albany Medical Center Hospital, where I have helped in the diagnosis and treatment of less-fortunate infants and children with facial and dental deformities for more than 35 years.

Vorton Boghosian, DDS

The most gratifying thing about being an orthodontist is seeing how a beautiful smile can have such a profound impact on a person's life. Our patients enable me to do what I love — create smiles — and I am truly thankful for that. It is extremely rewarding to create a beautiful smile and a healthy bite. It provides a great challenge, similar to solving a puzzle.  You figure out how to put all the pieces together to produce an end result that our patients will truly appreciate.

Education and Continuing Education

  • Bachelor of Science – Union College, 1978
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery – Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry, 1983

  • Orthodontic specialty training – University of Buffalo graduate orthodontic program, 1986

I complete continuing education on a yearly basis to keep current on the latest science and technology involving orthodontics. It helps me provide the best treatment possible by learning about the new advances made in the orthodontic and dental fields.

I have been a proud resident of Niskayuna all of my life. My wonderful family includes my wife Sue and our children: Adam, Jeffrey, and Kristen. I cherish the time I spend with them, as well as my friends. When I have enough time, I enjoy playing a round of golf. A natural problem-solver, I’m also addicted to Sudoku puzzles!

MARIANNE DICERBO, DDS

Orthodontics has been an extremely rewarding career, and I cannot imagine having picked another looking back on the last 25 years of practice. It has given me the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the well-being of others while having fun doing something I really enjoy.

As a mother of three children — one who has special needs — it is particularly gratifying for me to help other families in similar circumstances. There are often unique challenges for people with special needs that can limit access to care, so it is very important to me to provide treatment and achieve excellent results that will improve their quality of life.

I believe everyone deserves the confidence and improved quality of life that comes with a healthy and beautiful smile. It is truly an honor to be a part of that transformation.

In addition to my own continuing education, I contribute to the education of others as an attending orthodontist at the local dental residency program at St. Peter’s Hospital.

I grew up in Schenectady and have lived in Delmar for the last 21 years. My husband Steven and I have been blessed with three wonderful children. Carrie is an attorney, Lauren is currently attending NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and Christopher is a junior in high school. Weber is our yellow lab who always brings a smile to my face no matter how hard my day is going!

When I’m not doing all the things that working moms do on their “days off,” you may find me riding a bike, taking a long walk or a Pilates class, or having fun trying out new recipes in the kitchen, since I am a bit of a foodie!

I am also involved in supporting both local and national programs for children with autism, and the local Best Buddies program, which facilitates lifelong friendships between people with developmental disabilities and their non-disabled peers.

Gregory Lawless, DDS

I enjoy seeing the transformation that occurs in our patients as they undergo orthodontic treatment. I get to see improvement in my patients’ oral function and health, but I also see significant changes in personality, self-assurance, and quality of life. It gives me a wonderful feeling of fulfillment to be able to help a patient smile with confidence.

It is my goal always to do my best to exceed my patients’ expectations.
My greatest satisfaction comes from knowing our patients are healthy and happy with the care they’ve received.

Education and Continuing Education

Closer to home, my time is spent watching football and hockey, and being a proud dad at my kids’ Tae Kwon Do and dance classes.

Paul Hyun, DDS

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the addition of Dr. Paul Hyun to our orthodontic practice.

I feel extremely blessed and fortunate to be in a field that is able to provide a significant impact in people’s lives. Open communication is the foundation of having successful orthodontic treatment and I will thoroughly explain any questions or concerns you may have before, during, and after treatment. Although orthodontics is usually completed at adolescence, everyone is entitled to a great smile, regardless of their age, and I will work to deliver it with nothing but the best quality care.

Education and Continuing Education

  • Bachelor of Arts in biology – SUNY at Binghamton
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery – SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine
  • Masters of Science Degree – SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine

Having taught dental and pre-dental students, I understand that the dental and orthodontic fields are rapidly changing with new technologies. I’m a strong believer in delivering the most advanced products and techniques to patients, and regularly attend continuation courses and meetings. Research is also a key foundation in understanding clinical care.  My research on retainers was presented at the AAO annual meeting as well as being published in The Angle Orthodontist journal.
